    Protein Summary

    Gene PP0307 from Pseudomonas putida kt2440 encodes the small secreted protein NP_742474, which folds into a three helix bundle. It is the first structure representative of DUF1311 ( PF07007 family). The domain organization of this protein in related pfam members may provide functional clues to its currently unknown biological function.

    A DALI search with 3gi7 returns only very weak hits (Z-scr=7) with apolipophorin III (1aep) or the metastasis supressor protein 1 (2d1l).

    There are 3 S-S bonds within the 3gi7 tetrameric structure, suggesting a tetramer is likely the physiological relevant state. The cysteines forming S-S bonds are highly conserved. Mapping the sequence conservation to the protein structure (Fig 2-3) indicated that a region near the dimer interface is likely functionally important (Lys85, Trp87, Asp92, Arg124 etc). One pair of conserved cysteines forming S-S (Cys95 & Cys116) are also located at this site.

    According to the LipPred server this is a non-lipoprotein with signal petide cleavage site at position 31.

    Some homologous proteins are annotated as urease-associated.
