    These DALI hits (i.e. PDB ID's 2jki,_T, 1ejf_A, 1rl1_A, and 1x5m_A) all belong to the CS Pfam family (PF04969). Thus, the question arises if 1wh0 and other members of DUF1872 should be assigned to the CS Pfam family. PDB ID 1wh0 in the currently-assigned DUF1872 family is part of a mult-domain human protein designated ubiquitin-specific peptidase 19 (Usp19). Usp19 contains an N-terminal CS-Domain (residues 117-191), followed by a DUF1872 domain (residues 203-493), a ubiquitin carboxy terminal hydrolase (UCH) domain (residues 494-1211), and a zinc finger domain sub-domain (zf-MYND) 791-833 sub-domain (residues 791-833). Mei et al.[Ref] recently reported that human USP19 interacts with c-IAP2 (cellular inhibitor of apoptosis 2). To delineate the structural determinants of the c-IAP-2:USP19 interaction, deletion mutants of USP19 were constructed. It was reported that  both the region N-terminal to the USP domain (N) and the region containing the USP and the transmembrane domain were able to associate with c-IAP2. The DUF1872 domain is situated just N-terminal to the USP 19 domain, suggesting that the DUF1872 domain on USP19 plays a role in the c-IAP2 interaction.
