    Summary

    Pfam family PFAM:PF08940 {Domain of unknown function (DUF1918) } with 40 members in NR database and additional 1 members in the metagenomic datasets is represented in Bacteria. The first structural representative solved (PDB Id: TOPSAN:2a7y) was subject to FATCAT structural similarity search that indicated similarity to SCOP (v. 1.73) domain SCOP:d1mhna_ classified as SH3-like barrel fold. Based on marginal prediction from FFAS confirmed by structural similarity one can argue that this family is remotely homologous to previously known structures from 'd1mhna_' this fold. Based on experiment/ original paper one can hypothesize that this family is may play a biochemical role in starvation survival and the heat shock response
