    Pfam family PFAM:PF01931 {Protein of unknown function DUF84 } with 186 members in NR database and additional 51 members in the metagenomic datasets is represented in Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukaryota. It is annotated as NTPase_I-T.

    The first structural representative solved (PDB Id: TOPSAN:1u14) was subject to FATCAT structural similarity search that indicated similarity to SCOP (v. 1.73) domain SCOP:d1ex2a_ classified as anticodon-binding domain-like fold, ITPase-like superfamily, YjjX-like family. A DALI search provides hits with other YjjX proteins like 1u5w (Z=30), 1zwy (Z=25), and 1zno (Z=24) [Ref]. Next weak hit is with a putative xanthosine triphosphate pyrophosphatase 1vp2 (Z=10). The NCBI entries for the YjjX proteins with solved structure from E. coli or S. typhimurium are annotated as NTPases associated with thiamin metabolism.

    Based on marginal prediction from FFAS confirmed by structural similarity, one can argue that this family is remotely homologous to other families with this fold.
