    Summary

    Pfam family PFAM:PF01519 {Protein of unknown function DUF16 } with 42 members in NR database and additional 2 members in the metagenomic datasets is represented in Archaea, and Bacteria.

    The first structural representative solved (PDB Id: TOPSAN:2ba2) was subject to FATCAT structural similarity search that indicated similarity to SCOP (v. 1.73) domain SCOP:d1sa0e_ classified as Parallel coiled-coil fold. Profile-profile methods confirm a remote homology between this family and the superfamily of different coiled-coil structures. A DALI search shows weak hits (Z=6) syntaxin 1A 1hvv, and the synaptobrevin homolog-1 protein 3b5n.

    Based on sequence and structure analysis and results from the original paper, one can hypothesize that this family is involved in the motility of M. pneumoniae [Ref].
